Need help. How do i remove a Mercruiser gimbal housing from the transom?
There is no motor or outdrive attached to it. Gimbal is from a MR drive.

You have to get the nuts removed from the inner plate and then pry it out.

I only see 4 of them, is that correct?
How about the Y pipe? Is it attached with 3 bolts? The bottom looks like impossible to get.
Thanks for the quick respond.

yes, the y pipe nees to be removed, it takes a 3/8 12 point socket, should be 4 bolts on a V8, some 4 cylinders used only 3. There should be 6 bolts on a MR drive plate, 8 on an Alpha gen II

Unless it is an old gimble with a new style Y pipe and it will only have 3 bolts that line up. And there should be 6 or 8 bolts that hold the inner plate in.
