Bought used lowers from a man in MI on a Monday. Used Paypal. Just after I paid the seller stated that the product would ship the following Monday as the product was actually at his mechanics shop and his mechanic was on vacation. Called him again on Mon.(1 week after purchase) and he stated the mechanic was putting new seals in the lowers that I had purchased and should ship out on Tues or Wed. The guy sounds nice enough and I am pleased the lowers are getting re-sealed but that was not in the original agreement. So I am not sure what is going on or if there is another reason he hasn't shipped them.
Never had much of a problem before this buying used parts online, and I am not sure I have a problem yet.
What is the typical protocol?

No telling at this point I guess.....I guess I would see if he meets his "Tues or Wednesday" estimate...If he puts you off again, I guess you have to ask him point blank if there is a problem and see what he says...I know paypal will reimburse when you use them through EBAY, assuming its the same for any paypal purchase?
Keep your fingers crossed.

Was this an Ebay deal?

No it wasn't Ebay. I hate to name names as there may not be an issue as I said. It just took me by surprise when the shipping wasn't prompt and I still don't know when it will ship. Purchased off the board on S&F. So far I am 100% satisfied with six or seven transactions over there. Motor, midsections, props, books etc. Just anxious at this point. Trying my best to wait until tomorrow to call him.

Yeah, consider them crossed. You may have misunderstood. Tuesday and Wed. has come and gone, this week. I am literally waiting on a call from him with tracking number as we agreed earlier. I agree about the point blank and do not have a problem making a roadtrip if it doesn't get resolved. I am not going to post anything over there because he will be giving me more than I ever asked for if he just comes through. Too soon to tell. I am hopeful but something doesn't feel right. What would be my recourse?

Send him a final email as to shipping invoice. if he does not provide you need to contact pay pal fraud and make a report and get your money back.
Sometinmes fraud scumbags have several people paying for the same items and steal all of it.

I have purchased several items off S&F and have had great luck. Normally I won't worry but the one thing that does concern me with your particular problem is I believe most of the guys on S&F are their own mechanics????????????

Just remember you only have 30 days from the time you send the payment to file a complaint if there is a problem.

Too much going on at once. Thanks for the replies. Ferm, I understand 30 days to make a claim. Sent funds 3/2/10 so I may have jumped the gun. At 20 days with no lowers we have a problem...
I agree with Kamikaze, most guys on S&F work on their own stuff. This guy has a boat project that is over his head. He bought some motors that had the torque master lowers and he needs the sportys instead for his application. The mechanics shop as I understand it is storing the guys motors until his boat is ready.
The product is coming from Michigan. Sent the e-mail and voice mail last Friday. Seller responded late as he is working nights. He said his mechanic called UPS for a pick-up on Friday and I should be getting them this week. I sent e-mail back to him asking for the tracking number moments ago.

The guy got pissed with me when I questioned him about the shipping, he said I was stealing the lowers and that he had purchased tons of things online and always had to wait. He had to pay $1000 to change the driveshafts to 25". The latest, They were shipped out last Friday but the packing job was so poor UPS would not insure them and called him to repack them. Apparently the driveshaft poked through the box. I don't know about all that but I do have a tracking number for something that weights around 55 pounds and shipped this morning so I certainly feel better. I have got to stay away from the online buying.. I can't stand to wait and I don't have much trust anymore.
