Finally, I can pull my own boat! Lease on the Bimmer is up and finally decided to go back to another 2500 Dodge Diesel Manual Tranny!

Looked a a ton of options but in the end really like the diesel.

Got a sweet deal on an 09 and drove to Jacksonville. Picked it up yesterday. I know... it's over kill for a simple V!

That just means its time to get a bigger boat to match the truck.

Sweet man, love those trucks. How has the mileage been so far highway and around town?

Milage on the new diesels isn't all that great like it used to be. The wonderful EPA has mandated so much emissions crap that the milage has sufferred quite a bit from just a few years back. Just wait though, next year you have to fill them with exhaust fluid for the emisiions system.

Mileage in the first 500 or so miles has been 18.9 mpg. 70% highway.

On the cummins forum they state that it gets better as it breaks in. I used to get 17-19 around town and 20-24 highway on my prior one. We'll see how it goes with this one. Sounds like it's gonna be between 15-22.

The Dodge Bluetec system already meets the 2010 standard since 2007 but it supposedly does affect the mileage.

From the sounds of it GM and Chevy will be moving to the Exhaust Fluid while Dodge will stick to their Bluetec for now on the 2500 and 3500.

On the bigger boat.... good idea but I don't think it's gonna fly with the wife!

Nice Truck! Nice color! Congrats!:fam:

I always get a new truck every 10 years or so and it is such an exciting time for me. I also went the "bigger is better" and upgraded from a dodge 1500 to a ford F250 SD (not diesel). Somehow I was able to convince the wife I needed a SD.:sly:

I had my last dodge for 11, it done me real good.

Hope your new truck treats you well!

What really has me ticked off is this, you can go to another country and buy very strong, very economical, SMALL diesel engines in pretty much all the manufactures lines of trucks, vans, mini vans.
They run they all day, carry huge loads in them, all are available with a standard or an auto trans, the fellow I talked with was driving us around in a Mitsubishi full size 10 passenger van and was getting between 25-30 mpg loaded up.
We in this country are slaves to a big freaking monster of a govt. and big money and it saddens me so.

my cummings was a great truck. i had a 24 valve cummings diesel in a 99 Dodge quad cab long bed 4x4 offroad. hugh truck and not that great on fuel, my current chevy diesel tahoe is much better on fuel. but hard to beat those cummings, but they do have injection pump issues on the newer motors and have fuel valve issues on the front of the motor it's the fuel shut down valve will stick so you have to pop the hood give it a tap and they will usually start then.
