Them things are pretty sweet, you just thought you got good economy out of that MERC. Be careful not to tear up the starter though, always look at the tach before you hit the keyswitch. Quite a few people have ground the starter teeth down by hitting the starter when it's running cause them things are so quiet. Just make sure your bracket is bolted on tight though, that is one heavy SOB compared to a 2 stroker.

Actual weight is closer to 650-670 pounds on that YAMAHA MJ. YAMAHA weighed them without a prop, oil or any accesories on it.

I think he was doing more than kissing that thing. That motor was violated!

Sweet motor. Merry Christmas indeed. I have had tank issues before where I had to get rid of a lot of premix. It burns just fine in any four stroke gas engine and they will burn it all up without the smoke. I always transferred it to my gas truck, not sure how the Yamaha would handle the mix. The transfer generated enough attention in the neighborhood that there were always "friends" available to empty the tank. Funny how that happens.

Thanks Ridge, I have been thinking of putting in like 5 gal at a time with a fill up in my truck, I have a 25 gal tank and I fill it like twice a week, so if I add a little at a time I am sure it will be fine. I know others that have filled there tank with it and ni issues, so what the hell!

If it's like when I swapped out the old Rude for the Honda, you won't hear the motor runnin', but you will hear the pisser pissin'!!...another thing you'll notice is lack of vibration...it's like ya got a whole new boat, stem to stern ......congrats on the upgrade, MJ!!... :news:

I been trying to give it away, but everyone is injected and still using the injection ??
I might start putting 5 gal at a time in the truck, I fill twice a week any way and this will not over load it.
Also might try running the snow blower on it, as we have yet another storm the next 2 days that says we will have close to a foot + by sunday!
Winter is only just started and I am sick of it!!

Lawn equipment seems to not mind running on the 2 smoke mix. Whenever I have some that is funky and not good enough to run in the boat anymore, I mix it half and half and run it through the mowers.

hmmmm . . . I know someone that lives close by and is running premix on 3 boats.

20 seacraft, 22 seawolf (108 gallon tank empty), 23 seacraft (100 gallon tank empty).

I told BS to come over with a hose and start sucking it out!! We want to do a few mall things to the Merc before I remove it, so we need to leave some in there.
That Merc has been a great motor for this boat!! I have even thought of storing it just in case I ever need it? Some one is going to get a great motor!!

phatdaddy

mj , i'm glad your getting a 4 stroke, i think you can give some real world numbers as to the actual difference in fuel useage. i know your going up 50 hp. i have friends that switched over and all i get is "I think my mileage is around 5 mpg." "I went about 40 miles and only put 8 gallons in and the gauge is about where it was when we left".etc.

Someone on this site should buy it. I can't believe that I sold you that motor for $600 with rigging. I rigged it/delivered it when I had no job . . . while you were dying in the hospital . . and you tried to sell it back to me for $1500. (Even replaced a Trim and Tilt unit and Stator under warranty). I must be stupid!!

Wow Tim you want to move to Jersey? We can get Kenny to build you a house down the shore and I will help you move everything and come by help you build sh!t so I can learn, I will bring 15 year old scotch and supply all the beer and super models.
Think on it:sly:

macojoe

hahahaha The reason I told him it was 1500 was because he said I go the hole season with no issues! Well the trim pump went out!!
Now it did go out at 3 pm and he did have it repaired at 12 midnight so I could be fishing 5 am the next day, but that a side it did not last!

That will teach him not to give me a lifetime warrt on a $600 motor!!:you:

Now I do have a proposal so that you can get that motor back for FREE!! But you did not answer the phone this morning for breakfest.
