...a new (to me) boat. The Proline I grabbed a couple years ago was okay, but a very wet ride. I originally bought it for inshore Striper fishing for me and my grandson. So in keeping with that same requirement but looking for a bit more comfort and better ride (much drier too from what I'm told), I've been looking hard for something in the 17-18' range. Found a good deal on this 2002 Scout 175 Sport Fish in need of a trailer and motor. I've been straight out at work lately with very little time. So BigShrimpin (Tim) and MJ took good care of me and made the drive to RI to drag her home. Tim had a nice trailer and an extremely clean Merc 90 Hp motor that I'm buying from him. As you'll see, he's already started rigging it in his garage. I have a T-Top coming for it.
Spring can't get here soon enough for me. :beer::sun:

Should make a fine inshore boat. A friend of mine had a 15 foot SCOUT with a 50HP YAMAHA and was very happy with it. He fished it all over CHARLOTTE HARBOUR, out through BOCA GRANDE PASS, and also played down in the keys with it from time to time.

All composite construction, stainless thru hulls. Nice build quality. I've always like the styling.

you'll be very happy with teh Scout, the 90 should be perfect for it. They are good boats, built about 20 miles from here. If you need anything for it, I have several sources of used/NOS parts off Scouts. One thing everybody comments on Scouts(as compared to other boats sold in this area) is you feel like you're sitting on top of the boat, rather than sitting in the boat

I have a cousin who has one of those boats and he couldn't be happier!!...I followed him in the V one windy, choppy day across a very open area of Lake Clark Hill...that is a very bow-down hull and rides as smooth a silk and IS a dry ride for sure...GREAT SCORE, CB!!...and looks like yer buds came thru for ya inna big way w/the trailer and motor...we just needs mo PICS!!...

I actually got to visit the factory a few years back while working a job down the road for my former employer. Our customer was good friends with someone there and he gave me the .02 tour. We were pressed for time but I was impressed with what I saw.

You done good, my friend. Can I get a Big Shrimpin near me too. Maybe even a Wind Talker. Sounds like they come in awful handy.

Good luck with her

They certainly are pretty handy willy.

Here's the deal;

Hull = $3000
Motor and trailer = $2600(includes Tim rigging the motor and controls)
T-Top coming soon = $1000

Not too bad I'd say. Sold the Proline already so that money went towards this boat.

I love this little scout!! Funny Story about it too. My friend Jason who is part of Viking Marine (scout dealer in RI) got a call from neighbor asking to borrow his trailer . . . he had $3400 cash in hand ready to buy this boat the day MJ and I towed it home. When Jason told him the boat was already on it's way to MA . . . his neighbor was pissed!!! CB's a lucky dog!! This boat is beautiful.

Chum:

II have a friend that I fish with that has the same boat. He runs a Yamaha 115 and it flys at WOT. Even with three full grown adults the boats is very seaworthy. And you are right they are built like a tank. Enjoy!

In this pic you can the entry profile of the 20 seacraft vs. the 175 scout . . . Looking at these boats side by side from the front . . . . you'd never guess that the little scout is only 17.5ft.

Well the boat is here in my yard next to the Sea Ox as BS is doing a transom replacement for a guy and we did not want to get the Scout all dirty.

It will stay here till he is done and CB comes by to say were he wants a few things mounted. Sometime in March I will be bring the Ox over there and we are going to rewire the whole boat.

Us northern guys are busy getting everything set up for the up coming spring!

Nice ride CB. My wife's brother had a 175 dually w/ 85hp yami. He recently sold it...to his mom and stepdad (my mother in law). I love the boat. For its size its a very stable and worthy platform. I would have liked to have bought it from him but as the saying goes, I don't need another hole in the water in which to toss money. I've got issues to straighten out on my V.

I would not hesitate to take that scout out to the nearshore reefs in SC. Sweet boat indeed!

FP Marine in Florida, where guys have purchased rod boxes, has a bunch of Scout accessories if you need them in the future. I know they have seats and seat cushions (with Scout embroidered on them) and other Scout stuff.

Nice motor. Bet it was a fresh water only motor being a Tracker. Isn't that usually a package motor which comes with Tracker Marine boats (usually pontoons and bass type boats)?
