OK, I am now officially insane. Just picked up my 3rd boat. In addition to my 1991 V20 cuddy and 1984 Formula F-2 Sunsport, I am now the proud (?) owner of a 1987 Aerocraft 20' cuddy. The boat came with no motor, outdrive or seats, but it did come with a very nice 1994 Shorelander trailer. The best part of the deal was that it was FREE. Saw the ad on Craigslist and jumped on it. This is a really nice hull and an even better trailer. I am sure I can get at least $500 out of the trailer come spring. The boat is in surprisingly good shape, and appears to have no soft spots in the floor and I can tell you that the transom appears to be very dry and solid. All sorts of possibilities, including just plain giving the boat to someone on this good and venerable board who may want it. I have been on this site for over 2 years now, and have yet to post a picture, but I will push myself to try to get pix of this steal up for you to see. This thing is a freshwater boat, no bottom paint, and just screams bracket project!

Boat is a 1987 Aerocraft Mach 2 cuddy cabin. Picked it up when it was fairly dark (you have to act quickly when the thing is free), but it appears to be pretty darned nice. The trailer is a gem. It is only single axle with no brakes, but it is in very good condition. Would be for freshwater use only as it is a painted trailer, but still, I think I could get at least $500 for it in the spring.

Hey Nipper,

Are you married?

I can just see the face on my wife bringing home another boat out of the blue.

:fight:
"So what the he!! are you going to do with that?"

"But it was free!"
:fight:
"So where the he!! are you going to put it?"

"But it was free!"

Anyhow, sounds like a great find! I think I'll try to roam the free stuff myself more often.

Welcome to BFA (Boat Fools Anonymous)...we meet continuously 24/7...go ahead...talk it out...don't hold back...don't be afraid of any aspect of the disease...it's not like they are dogs...they don't poop in the floor or chew up furniture...if you don't spend anything, they don't even cost anything...free boat...freakin' amazin'...

Here is an example of the free boats I normally come across

http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/zip/1504451188.html

I'll keep looking though, there's all sorts of free crap out there.

OM Freakin' G. Now I have to post pix because the one I scored for free is sooooo much better than that. Took a better look at it tonight. Guess what I found? A 2007 model Garmin fishfinder and a decent stereo.

Ok, if I decide to just part this thing out (it has lots of nice teak, including dual swim platforms) and sell the trailer, what can one do with a boat which one does not want? It would probably cost a lot of $$ to put it in a landfill.
