I found this one earlier today and went and looked at it. Unless you want a MAJOR!!!! project, stear clear of this one. I let the pictures tell the tale(and it looks MUCH worse in person). The guy tols me over the phone that it was an insurance salvage that had been stripped, but was in excellent structural condition with glossy GEL-COAT. Boy was I shocked at his idea of excellent structural condition.
It looked OK at this point

Then this, yes that is bare glass on the hull bottom
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t271/THEFERMANATOR/V-21-3.jpg
And it gets worse, those are holes filled with marine-tex

The final straw, it was soaked in the transom from where the engine was removed.

Not to mention the water-based white paint that was brushed all over it.

He told me he bought it from an insurance lot just north of where it is now. Said it had been stripped, but would be a good solid project hull. What a waste is an understatement. Judging from the sticker it was last registered in 02, so who knows what had happened to it since then. Needless to say I was a bit disapointed, thought I had me another $500 V.

RAP, I would but I don't want to upset her. She's tough as nails on the outside but a big ol Pusssy Cat on the inside ;)

Looking back at the boat, Ferm were you able to look into the belly and bilge at the stringers and general condition of the inside? Those gouges in the side wouldn't worry me much. Transom can be fixed. Hows about the floor? What condition was it in?
It would be interesting to look inside the rod box holes. You can see the foam flotation from there and I'd bet its soaked.
Offer him $200 8)

You readin' my mind, BR...whatever's wrong w/that hull...bringin' it back would be WORTH IT!! ... I just wish I could 8) ... looks like relatively minor stuff compared to lots of the work we've seen around here ;) ...

Yeah, the bad part is the pics don't show the floor or inside the cuddy. *Gotta be bad to only be asking $500. * And even $500 is running people off with trailer included *:-/ *Must be a real POS? Skools out could have that thing whipped into shape by next spring ;)

If I knew lots about glassin', I'd be on the way down to pick 'er up YESTERDAY...HECK...we've seen STRINGERS replaced on older boats ... I don't think it'd make sense to get it and pay somebody, but someone who knows his stuff, this would be a good place to work it 8) ...

I didn't look at the stringers in it, there was no foam visible from the rod box holes either. I was so disgusted when I seen it after hearing the guys description, I took these couple of pics and left. The cuddy was filled with black mold though, and the deck apeared to be bowing some in the middle. She was not dismantled gently by the thieves who gutted her.
