Well I had told several friends who helped me build my garage that we would go out fishing. We headed out yesterday around 4:30 to fish the MMBT and when we arrived the tied was coming in but not very hard. We trolled around for a few hours with no luck and a tide that would not do anything. Finally I added some weight to fish right on the bottom and found the fish. We caught our limit in about hour and headed back in. Not sure what the deal was with the tides but for about 6 hours while we where out it really never moved much which made fishing a little tougher. So tonight I'll have some fresh striper while I watch MNF.

I saw your post but I have two appointments on that day that I have to keep but it sounds like fun. For a tip if I was going to charter a boat I'd wait a little longer in the season when the bigger stripers are running. Early January through Feb are great times for a charter when ocean season is in full swing. That captain has a good reputaion for catching stripers so you should have a good time and the bigger fish are starting to show up so who knows. Maybe we should have a day when we get some local members here and go out with several boats. I know Blue brings his boat down every year for ocean season and maybe we could find a few more people.

As always I'll keep you guys posted when/if I make it up to Rudee this year. We normally try to go at least twice, fishing for 2 days each time.

Nice job SR.

I'm not worried about it being at the start of Dec, I've caught some nice 40lb+ fish during that time of year.

Devin (Poacher) captn is a friend of mine and we go several times a year with him, striper, bottom fishing.

We always have a good time.

I'll let you know how we do.

Lee

I posted on your thread that your timing might be great as the bigger stripers are starting to show.

I'd really like to make it up to VA to fish on 12/17 & 18. That's about the same time we went last year and fishing was pretty hot. We didn't have to travel far to get em either, which was the best part.

Just Info

My striper fishing date of 12/3 on the Poacher out of Rudeee Va has been called off due to the wind Wednesday night and Thursday AM. It would be rough as a cobb out there after that wind.

He's trying to find another date.

I'll let you guys know and maybe some of ya'll can go next time

That sucks. Well watching tidalfish.com the big ones are here and people are landing some nice stripers along the CBBT. If my boat was on its trailer and not in the water I would have gone last night. I had to make a few repairs to the rollers on my trailer and I'm now waiting for some parts. Did anyone see the ring around the moon last night? Never seen it like that before.

I saw the ring last night. I've seen plenty of rings before...but that one was HUGE! By far the biggest ring ever. When I was a kid my sister had a "how to" book. In the book it said a ring around the moon indicates it will snow soon.

An old timer told me it ment the fish are biting and we always comment ahout the ring or lack of ring around the moon while fishing. I have been out on several nights when the fish are everywhere and look up to see the ring around the moon. I think it happens only on a full moon and thats usually when fishing is usually better anyways. I tried taking a picture of the one last noght but the camera would not pick up the ring.

From what I remember growing up it portends high moisture in the air and rain to follow. Which would jibe with fish movement due to a barometric pressure fluctuation

An intentional mispronunciation/misspelling of genius designed to provoke a response...works pretty good, huh?
