Looking at getting a steplift real soon but on the V20's which is the way to go? I/O or Outboard?

I have had both and OB is the way for me!
I/O: Pro Good on gas, easy to work on, cheaper to repower
Con still need marina for out drive service, always needs something as IMO a car motor was never ment to be in the water, nickle and dime you to death
OB Pro, very dependable, need little maintance, can be great on gas, easy repowering
Con, more to replace and when needed repairs can get costly if you need a marina.
Thats my opinion of coarse

Another Pro of an outboard is that you can run in more shallow water than an I/O. However in my opinion the v20 isn't exactly designed for shallow water with the deep keel in the front.

I have an I/O but I have owned previous boats with outboards. I like outboards when you go to beach the boat since you can get the motor totally up from the bottom. Of course, the outboard also opens up lots of useful cockpit space.

OB all the way. Speaking from a marina stand point, if you keep it in the water an OB can be tilted all the way out of the water, an IO you gotta get special bottom paint.
