Anyone know of a design for building a motor stand for a 150-225? What would one cost? Thanks.

this is one vic built for me. it is fairly stable and you can run the motor while it is on this stand. the 2x10's on the bottom are to keep the foot out of the ground, the stand had casters on it to roll the motor around the shop. the wood he used is ipe, left over from a deck job. pt would also work. if you need measurements, let me know.

Craigan, I should have shown you the one I had in the backyard when you were up here... I built it to hold two 200HP Suzukis a while back. So, yours doesn't need to be as wide. I would think you could build one for no more than $50, probably much less if you have some scrap wood laying around.

Here's a pic:

I ended up lowering the height on it a good bit and also raising the pieces across the bottom to give clearance for the feet of my lift. I also decided to go with cross beams, one on each side to make it more stable. Anyway, this is just one way to do it.

And here's a link to a previous discussion on motor stands:

Is this stand for the 225? Are you removing it from the boat? Just curious...

No its staying. Just gotta get the carbs cleaned and drain that gas andill be good to go there. Gonna pull the 150 off of my other boat to work on it but I figured I should build a stand that will hold a 225 just in case I ever need to do anything to the bracket or swap a motor etc. thanks for thepics guys. Anyone with measurements ..Id greatly appreciate them. love the double motor stand. Hadnt even considered that...

Notice i welded on a piece to hold the motor straight so it will not turn and can start without it torque'in
