I took these pics last night. They are blue LED rope lights mounted inside the top of my rod boxes. They make the whole boat glow blue.

it was leftover from a job. A customer with a 31 Contender had me install this under the gunnals around the entire boat. I had about 8' leftover that made its way onto my boat. All I had to buy was two power chords to connect the rope lights to a power source. I used zip ties with screwholes to fasten it to the inner top of the rod box. Then I wired them both to a common switch. Now I just need some matching underwater lights.

I keep wantin' to replace the insert in my rub-rail w/rope lights...I think it'd look pretty cool goin' across the water at night...and then if you could make the lights "chase" around the boat!!..oooeee...it'd look like a freakin' UFO!!

Sure would increase nighttime visibility on the water...

SWEEEEEEEEET. Thats my favorite color. I would like those same lights in mine one day. I was reading about them a while back and they were saying that you need a resistor to limit the voltage to a certian range so they dont blow.

Did you add any resistor, how did you wire them?

they are wired directly to 12 volts. no resister was necessary. I just cut it to length and connect to power.
