To Martha's Vineyard this week end. People asked if I had a camera and then not a soul took a picture??

O well the Ox and the Merc earned there keep!! Lets say there are no light weights in my family! 6 people tip the scale at 1500+ pounds!! add to that drinks chairs snacks 110 gal gas, all make for a hefty load on a 23 footer with a 175 hp!

From my ramp it has to be better then 30 miles one way and 4500 rpms 25 knots takes 1 h 30 min to get to Oak Bluff on the NE side of the island. In the morning it was 1 foot or less water and made for a greatr ride!

When we got there I let everyone off at the dock and me and my son went to a mooring. They were mooring 4 boats to a mooring and i must have drove around 1/2 hour to find one to tie to. then we called for the launch to come for us.
The mooring is Free and you pay $4 for each person round trip for the launch which was a big surprise to me. nothing is free amy more!

We then all walked to all the shops and then to lunch, had a great meal and then headed back to the launch dock were there was a huge line, after a one hour wait I payed this 13 year old kid $10 to take me to the Ox in a 12 foot zodic, he was making a bundle taking people from the launch! I was glad to pay it.

Got to the boat called the family from the cell and they meet me at the dock, it was now almost 5 30 and I wanted to get going before it got dark, last thing i wanted was to have to travel in the dark with a bunch of non boaters.
The water in Vineyard Sound had gotten pretty choppy by now and we were getting some spry over the side, people on the port side were getting a little wet but loving it! After we got to Woodshole the water layed down and stayed that way when we got to the other side in Buzzard Bay. Was back on the trailer at 7:00 and glad we beat the sun.

Everyone had a great time and was impressed that I knew my way out and back, I said thank that little box on the dash (GPS) cause with out that we be in big trouble!

Glad I did it but I worked all night then went on this trip, I called in sick last night and relaxed all day today! It beat the crap out of me, b ut i handled it better then I thought with all that has been going on as of late.

Going to try to go again with BS & CB and are better halfs before the season ends.

I like the entrepreneurial kid with the boat shuttle!
No pictures. Well at least let us know how the V-Ox did fuel wise when you refuel!

Nice outing dawg.

I do the family thing a lot on the lake but never in the salt. I need to figure out a good day trip like that in SC.

V-Ox - too funny!

BR, try running from Moultrie down to Charleston Harbor, its about 50 miles by water, all marked, great change of scenery from the lake, the Cooper River, the harbor, then the ocean. I've never done it, but I understand the Edisto is a nice run, but there are some low clearance bridges, adn its not marked.

well I filled up today on the way to the ramp, BS was guessing 30 to 35gal, I said I had a real load and said 40??
Started filling it and I heard gas coming from the vent a little, looked at the pump ans said nope can't be full and started to fill again and it popped off it was full, 23 gal!! We were both way off!! This motor is so cheap on gas all the time I think it makes its own??
Used another 16 gal today for the last day of Fluke season, close to 100 pounds all iced down waiting for the morning when we will clean for a nice freezer full.

Isn't there a "lock" you have to go thru? My friend and ex co-worker's mom lives on the Cooper. He takes his hand made wooden Kayak and canoe down there to paddle. I'm sure he would fill me in on all the points of interest. I've never even been to Charleston so that sounds wonderful!

Thanks Spare!
