just wondering if anyone would be interested in a v20 get together in Barnegat Bay somewhere. I have seen a lot of v20's around but I don't know if anyone is on this forum.

There are several NJ V-20ers out there...I'm a little further south and won't be able to attend, but there are some great guys on this forum in your area...all we ask is that when you do get together, you post some pictures of all the fun youse gize have up there...

no problem. I met a nice couple that had a mint v20 cuddy I/O at the local gas dock this past weekend. They told me that they are on the forum. But I didn't get their names.

Barnegat bay is ripe with v20's. Ive seen at least 3 different v's at Ticey's Shoal over the summer and one pulling a tube near Cattus island. It's weird how some owners will wave to you while others don't seem to realize or care that you have the same boat. I'd be into a get together. We're out there every weekend so just name a time and place.

well I work every other weekend. I have off this weekend, which is probably too early. So how about the weekend of Aug. 15,16. Which day is best for everybody? Maybe we could meet up at Tice's shoal or somewhere around the lighthouse.

what they did last time was to find a meeting place all got together and went out, after a cook out and beers, some stayed over night and had BK then went home.
Depending on CB we will most likely do something like that??

need one of you locals to scope out a camp ground, picnic area local hotel were we can all meet?

The location certainly looks perfect....I looked it up on google earth and there looks to be a marina on the south side of cedar creek....pretty close to the campground....'ll give a call tomorrow and see what kind of availability they have and see what kind of space for trailered boats they have.....I'm definitely into camping and not having to make that drive back on Saturday night.

I dont know the area really so lets see if Lumber or anyone has any suggestions too

captpete13

I used to work at a marina over there called ocean beach marina. Its right on cedar creek. they have a ramp and plenty of slips. try calling them. I think the number is 609-693-2347. ask for Kyle and tell him Pete told you to call him. Maybe it will help.

How about this one

http://www.cedarcreeknj.com/

Called the folks at Cedar Creek....friendly enough for whatever thats worth....they have availability for cabins, trailers and "a few" tent sites....says its a pretty busy weekend scheduled so dont wait to long to reserve... In grand NJ fashion they seem to have a charge for everything under the sun such as additional cost per person over 2, boat trailer parking, day visitors fee, but hey what do you expect from a state that charges you to get onto most of its beaches.

Like I said I'm in to camping and sounds like CB and MJ might be too so I guess lets see if anyone else chimes in with any better ideas or places over the next day or two.

Sounds to me like the party is at where ever our "founding father(s)" go.:sun:

cedar creek is nice Ive played golf at the golf course a couple times but its to close to home fro me to camp .... but it all sounds good to me ,

me and my family are in......:fam:

macojoe
07-31-2009, 06:03 PM
well I like camping but I have a 30 foot camper!
They get a ton of cash for trailer rentals!

I think what we are looking for is a day spot were we can all meet take off do what we want and return to after to cook out and get to know each other.

Hotel room will be much cheaper then $175+ for a trailer rental for one night.

So maybe meet at ceder as day guest and use there picnic area to meet and eat. Get a hotel room for over night people, the few that can meet for breakfast and then be on are way the next day.

Wont have any problem spotting that!....nice looking boat. I love V's with colored hulls. When I was buying mine I found one with a dark blue gelcoat hull....It would have been absolutely beautiful....(unfortantely everything else was crap)

How long were you stuck there on the beach, you look a little high and dry right there!

it wasn't too bad. I pushed it off in about ten minutes. we were hanging out on the sandbar for a while. by the time we decided to leave it was sitting like that. it was at a good angle to get a couple pics though. it looks a lot better in the pics than in real life. over this winter i'm probably hit it with some wet sanding and compound.

All right, just got back and spotted this, so you guys are hooking up on the 15th of August right?

Going to have to figure this one out, my boat is on a rack way north of there, to far for a run. And my trailer is buried in a yard full of trailers around it at the marina.

Yea going to have to be some figuring here.

CB and Wind Talker what are you guys doing? have you firmed up a spot yet.

Has anyone got a price for a camper at that camp ground yet? I got one I can sleep three guys in and can tow down there in an hour or two.

$48.50 per night for water and electric only...no sewer....up two 2 people, extra $10 per person on top of that.

I'm pretty sure me and the family will be doing the tent thing there. (I've never camped in anthing but a tent so I dont know how much tents suck just yet)

Havent had any activity on this thread in a little while but I am guessing the plan is still to meet at Tice's Shoal in Barnegat Bay on Saturday the 15th. My familay and I will be camping at the Cedar Creek campground and plan on being on the water down there late morning if all goes well.

Haven't heard from anyone other than whats on this thread so I gues I will head out there and look for some V-20's!:pic: I guess we will just play the rest of it by ear. Look forward to meeting anyone who makes it!! I'm planning on having a big time even if I find myself there alone. Anybody else who shows up will be a bonus!

(RB437, MJ or CB if you are down there and looking for a ride I'd be glad to hook up with you. My cell phone is 908-246-5660 or you can shoot me a PM)

I'll be out there with the wife and kids pretty early. If you've never been to Tice's its very crowded on the weekend and people will anchor right on top of you. We usually anchor on the Northern end where its not quite as crowded. Hopefully we will see you all there. My boats named tranquility.

Brielly, that's what I was just going to suggest. I guy named Buddy called me today , he was the guy that Capt Pete met a few weekends ago and was asking about where's and when. He also suggested the "north west" corner of the pack....says it can get pretty populated there to say the least. I guess thats the area I will shoot for...just look for a family with a beagle in a V-20 cruising around looking clueless

we had a great time Saturday with everybody. As usual we got a late start because getting 4 kids(not all mine) organized and ready to go anywhere can be a chore. The turnout was a little lower than I expected(only 3 strong including me). But we all got a chance to get to know each other pretty good and really check out each others boats. Hopefully we can do something like this every year. Maybe with better notice more people will show up. Anyhow, RW has a great family and a really nice boat(I want that back seat). And Buddy's boat looks like it came out of a time capsule from 1984. It was flawless. We saw lots of other v20's floating around including another yellow one like mine(what are the chances of that?) Actually I'm not suprised because there had to have been 2-300 boats anchored up at Tices Saturday. It was a zoo! But like I said before we all had a blast. I have a few pics but they are too big to upload. I need to wait for my fiance to get home from work to make them fit(i am not very good that kind of stuff) RW got some good pics that I'm sure he will post soon.

Well, like Pete said some of us members got to hook up this weekend out in Barnegat Bay. It was the first time for me down there and its a great place for boating. It was me, Pete and Buddy for most of the day.

Buddy was an active member back a few years but has not posted in quite a while he said....His screen name was Buddy Buoy and I guess at some time in the past the format changed and he never got around to re-registering....Hopefully he will be back, he would be a great asset to our site. We also enjoyed his meeting his wife Kathy (Cathy?). She and my wife seemed to have a great time getting to know each other. Buddy's boat is UNBELIEVABLE!. A 1984 that is absolutely perfect....A truly restored classic.... We were looking for Lumberslinger out there as he had said he might show , but I think maybe he saw this boat from afar and ran home to put another coat of wax on! We need the 2 side by side for a real competition!

Pete and his tribe then showed.....my sons eyes lit up....some kids to play with!!!....they had a big time swimming off the back and climbing on the monster tube that Pete brought. Pete like Buddy is another seasoned boater....he works part time for Boat US towing in the less fortunate....hopefully I never need his professional services. He has done a TON of work getting his V in shape...new transom, starboard access hatches, repaired and painted rod boxes, electronics...he needed to be documenting this stuff as he went and entertaining us over the winter but I guess he'll just have to make up for lost time.

We did get a brief hello to Brielly too....he was just leaving as we were getting there and think maybe they might have had enough of the crowd. I think the only inaccurate thing Pete said is the estimate of 2-300 boats....I think they may have easily been 2-3 times that amount.

MJ, Willy and the rest, hope your respective loved ones are doing ok.....I'm sure there will be plenty of more opportunity for a get together.

Here's some pics!!

Sorry we didn't get to meet up with you. We got there early and anchored in close. I took the kids over to the beach and had a great time. We had to leave early to get to a birthday party. Getting out of there was ridiculous. I had to pull the boat out a ways by the anchor line before I could fire it up and take off. Thats when I finally spotted you guys. BTW were you out crabbing the next day by Good Luck Pt? I saw 2 v20's tied up together on my way back to the marina.

Ju-Sey...you'd do much better getting responses if you would start a new thread with a question. When you put a question in at the end of a long thread alot of people might not read it because they have read most everything on there already and might not even see it.

BTW $350 sounds like a great deal.

And dont make me tell you a 3rd time :thre:
