Salty, Smudgy, Sunglasses

Hey fellas, when you are on the boat and you take a shot of salt to your sunglasses how do you clean them?

It seems I can't alway find a soft dry rag or tee-shirt and even if I do have that it can't be good to wipe saltwater on the lenses. I thought about getting 2 spray bottles - 1 with tap water and a little bit of dish detergent, the other with straight tap water to clean them up while on the boat.

Anybody have any good ideas on how to handle this problem?

I always keep alcohol wipes on the boat just for that reason. It works great to cut thru salt and dries fast with no streaks. Plus it works great on small finger wounds when a hook pokes you.

I have a 4 gal water jug in the cabin with fresh water, just clean them off. Also I carry like 4 pairs of glasses.

I have some largeish containers that I used to haul when camping. I'd bet they are around 4 - 5 gallons. I might have to do that.

Shawsee, I suppose the wipes are safe for the finish on the lenses?

I wear glasses and have been using the alcohol wipes for many years with no issues. We had them (Bausch & Lomb wipes) in almost every machine shop I ever worked in. They do work fantastic and leave no streaks or residue. I tried them once when fishing and it worked great so I use them all the time on the boats. I even use them to wipe my expensive prescription sunglasses and no problems. I can't seem to keep them on my boat because everyone loves using them to wipe their glasses/sunglasses.

blue, that is the main reason i put a fresh water washdown system on my boat.

I usually keep a gallon jug of fresh water in the cooler for drinking, washing hands and glasses ect. Even the water in the river will smudge em up when splashed on them!

Cool deal. Phat, do you have a dedicated pump to your freshwater washdown? Or do you use a single pump for raw and fresh?
