anybody ever tackle this job??? Had the chris craft out for the 1st time with my new to me 1998 225 oceanrunner. Ran great for about 1.5 hour cruise !!! gps read 50 mph wot 5800 rpm.... cruised at 33 mph at about 3700 rpm so it seems the prop is good 14 3/8 X 17 michigan stainless prop that came with the motor. I was really happy that I had no leaks in any fuel lines or oil hoses all my warning lights for the vro checked out and everything worked like it should. Then I got back to the ramp and the trim motor stopped working all together. I have trimmed it in the driveway for the last 2 weeks or so numerous times and it worked the whole time on the cruise and then nothing!! Anyway I checked and cleaned all the terminals and wire connections and still nothing, I checked the fuse and it was good I even replaced the solenoids that were clicking but to no avail.

I have power from the blue green wire down to the motor but still not sure if they are connected to the motor or the motor is bad. When I "overload" the multimeter to see if the wire is continuos multimeter said the line is broke....but would a bad trim motor give the same reading?

Anyway onto the real problem...the boat is on a lift, motor stuck down, cant trailer it home to even fix it and the manual release valve is screwed...stripped head....stuck..kind of hard to get it out when the boat is on the lift anyway... by the way my girl says I am 0-2 on motors so far funny huh? lol!!!

I am going to try to grind a semi groove on the side of the screw thats all chewed up and get a bigger screwdriver on it with a hammer if that dont work im going to drill into the center with a left handed bit carefully as to not go all the way through the screw and see if that gets it out, last resort will be to hammer the screw extractor bit in the same whole and back it out and hope for the best.....talked to the marina owner and he said to just move the boat up 3 feet forward and sit a ladder across the bunks so tomorrow i will be sitting above the water on a ladder trying to get a screw out !!!!!! ha ha ha ha

Good luck, if can't get the release valve out you may have to grill it out, also I may have a spare I can send you if you need a replacement.

im doomed !!!...it aint coming out and I broke 2 pretty high dollar ez offs in the screw,
If i drill it out there is no doubt i will screw the threads up and probably have to get a whole new valve body, probably gonna take it somewhere and let them charge me out the A@# at this point ... good start to the boating season

I would maybe just try to get the trim fixed and fool with the manual release after the season is over. Just a thought. I feel for you.

My boat is parked right now due to steering issues, if that makes you feel any better. I'm

I can't get to the relay until the motor is up but I hope your right!!! I cant believe the motor would just quit all of a sudden.... without slowing down or making any noises when it worked perfect for the last month. I hope that is all it turns out to be but you never know?
