Well went out with my good friend with the Maycraft 2550 and two other good friends today, water was rough and wind was howling. Who cares!!
I did battle with some nice Bass and ended up keeping a nice 31 incher. But my best fights of the day were on Blues. Monster sea run Blues that gave my new Spanish Fly Mojo Stick one h@ll of a workout.
We all caught fish all day, kept eight Bass with Jeff pulling his personal best 42 incher with a 22 inch girth in. All the rest were between 30-34 inchers.
You Jersey Boys best get your arses to the Raritan Bay becuase the big one are in and there are monster Blues that will run you ragged right on top of them. All on clams.

I long ago quit worrying about moons and which tides and whether the gurus think it will be good or not.
It seems a lot more random than that. The fish live there everyday, they eat everyday so it is just a matter of catching it right, one tide is good today, tommorow the fish eat on the out going.
Whenever you go is a good day, some are just more better!!

Dang it, how did that 42" make it back up there? I thought the NC department of immigration deported all of those this past winter. Deported to the grease that is. :you:

Nice report William. Catchum up!

Oh Blue, you are wrong brother, you missed a whole bunch. The main schools of cows are still not even here yet they are moving up the Jersey coast as we speak following big pods of bunker.
And as much as I love Stripers when you hook into a 40 inch or better Blue Fish you better be ready for a workout cause those boys will be up tail dancing, down deep back up and your drag will say thank you when you are done. Had two of the best fights of my life yesterday on Blues, one had to be at least forty inches and we boated him (very carefully) and the other we had alongside the boat and he finally broke off and he was bigger, Lordy those are some fighting fish.

All clams brother, fresh shucked on the boat and a bag of cracked (no good cheap) clams which we use an aluminum bat and smash them in the air alongside the boat for chum.
There are bunker in the bay but no one has been getting hit on bunker yet.
One of the bass had a six inch porgy we believe in his gullet.
