has anybody ever owned one of these outboards. good or bads?? i know nothing on these suzuki 2 stroke outboards. looking at a 23' wellcraft W/A with this engine on it. thanks

Good engine overall. The best oil injection system of any of the big 2 strokers IMHO. They do have a problem with the lower unit splitting though in the exhaust hub where the prop slides due to corrosion. Look closely around the prop hub for corrosion, and also check the hours. They use a boron sleeve in the cylinders that is TOUGH! The problem with em is that some of them were thin on the coating and would fail at around 100-250 hours. If they make it past 300 hours they are normally a good engine that will run for a few thousand hours with proper maintence. They are also one of the more economical big 2 strokers out there with it's small displacement. Also remember there are a few different 200's, and the 150-225 are all the same basic design with different heads and porting.

general consensus on them around here is great engine, good economical performer and durable. Only problem I have heard is parts availabilty if you are not near a good dealer of distributor

going to look at the boat that has this engine tomorrow. going to do a compression check on the engine. what compression should i have on a good used engine of this brand? 110 or so? any info appreciated.
