Been thinking real hard about how to get the forward sliding cuddy to not leak....It isnt that big a deal but a big wave over the cuddy will overflow the drain rails and I just carpeted the inside cuddy and would like to keep the water out. Besides the wave problem which doesnt happen all too much, I would really like to be able to fix this so i can wash the front and spray it off with a hose and not have to worry about leaking. Iam going to try and fabricate it like a 1973 chris craft lancer

carpeted sides and floor in cuddy and got some cushions off ebay have a walk through piece of marine ply carpeted on 3 hinges in the center, i can lift up the center and get to my tackle and other stuff in the storage area when i need to

I can't tell what the improvement would be? Looks similar to the way the sliding hatch is on a V20. What about the Lancer hatch makes it more waterproof? I'm with you on the need for it. DMOORE and I have discussed it in depth recently. The guy before me ripped my carpet out, and I'm glad he did since I can't keep it dry.

From what I can tell from the picture, the Lancer seems to have a higher inner "lip" on the groove in which the cover slides. By the way, for whatever reason, my 1991 cuddy does not leak. I must be blessed!

Yeah Nipper the height looks a little higher than most I have been looking at. Some v's sliders are a little different than mine on the chris craft,I really dont have any inner lip at all...just the 1/2" deep drain that easily overflowes any time it rains. I think that if i built a 2" lip all the way around the sliding area and put some snaps on the outside I may be able to just get a piece of vinyl made with snaps and snap it on when it rains and when I want to spray the boat off I dont know how it would look though but im leaning that way. If i do it that way i could still use the slider as it was intended

I've thought about that exact same thing a lot over the past 2 years!! Instead of snaps, what about a piping on the edge of the vinyl which would slide into a channel like you see on some enclosures. Have the pipe/channel setup on three sides and have snaps on the side next to the windshield. Make me one while yer at it!
