Huh, I have the latest edition of some boating magazine which ran an article called "dawn of the dead" which reported on Loran being updated ane better than ever.

With most lorans they are just like a basic GPS, just the coordinates and you need a chart. They did make a few chartplotting loran's though, but chartplotters didn't really come out until GPS hit the scene after LORAN-C was fading away. Yes the COAST GUARD just recently announced that LORAN-C had been revised to LORAN-E to meet the the requirements of homeland security in having a back-up form of navigation that isn't easily jammed like GPS is. I guess comrade o decided to abandon the project and roll the dice and see what happens. We are predicted to have some MAJOR solar events in the next few years that will render GPS basically useless. I guess we'll see what happens when that time comes.

That is what I was reading about--the new Loran E. So Obama has scrapped that?
