Oh...and the new issue...well I was waxing the boat this weekend and noticed that the buffer was making a lot of rattling in some areas....took a closer look and....I can push on the side of the boat in certain areas and it gives in the area behind the rub rail...it looks as though this is where the topside attaches to the hull and it has come apart.....can I just shoot a bunch of 5200 in there?

Here is as good of a pic as I could get

dont take my word for it because I dont know jack but It looks like its pushing in pretty far. I'd consider taking off the rub rail and screwing the top back in all the loose places. A friend of a friend had his top start to seperate at the bow while offshore. 3 hours later in the water he got a free helicopter ride from the Coast Guard.

Like I said I dont have much experiece so I'd wait and see what the more experienced have to say.

BTW the boat looks great!

that's going to have to be repaired remove your rub rail see what is damaged and you may have to get to it somehow inside the boat and do some glass repairs.

W/out separating it at the transom, I lifted the cap off the hull a few years back (still kickin' myself because no pics)...cut 2x4 stiff-legs about 4-6" longer to hold the cap up...added 1 1/2" strips of 3/4" starboard to inside of hull at top edge...dropped the cap back down, and ran screws thru cap and into the starboard, then sealed remaining opening w/4200 (3 tubes)...replace rub-rail...

Sounds complicated and it is involved...if you decide to do this, post here and I'll give ya some tips that'll help...but I agree w/the guys who say it really needs to be done...

when I replaced my rub rail I had alot of loose screws in mine , I tighten them and installed the new rubrail and then fill under the rub rail with black silicone , that way I wouldnt get any water splashing back inside the hull .

as far as I can see it worked well.

lookin good brian

Thanks guys....has been a long time since I posted....my motor started screwing up last summer and I could never figure out the issue. It was an '89 yamaha 130 and everything pointed towards the CDI unit...but I just couldn't convince myself that was the problem enough to make me spend the $500 for a new one....ended up finding a company that fabricates and sells them for much cheaper....hooked it up last weekend and now the boat runs like a top!! Super Excited.

So anyway....I still have not done anything with the rub rail...that will probably be next winters project....but I did paint the floor with durabak and wasnt sure if I ever posted updated pictures afterwards

No joy on the pictures here either...but I would take care of the hull/cap separation problem before any serious offshore trips...be a shame all that hard work becomes an artificial reef somewhere...pull the rub-rail and see what you got...I fixed mine w/#8 SS screws and filled remaining gap w/4200...she's SOLID now...

With my old '74, I could SEE the water comin' in...w/yours having a full liner you might not know it's there til the bilge pump comes on...or worse...

stu, can't tell by pic exactly where the seperation is on the hull. but would it be possible to put a inspection plate in the liner so you could get to the back of the hull? you could put a backing plate and tru bolt the rub rail ,cap and liner.

just noticed your from daphne, i installed the irrigation at timber creek, rock creek, glenn lakes, & kiva dunes. spent about 2 years at the knights inn in spanish fort....

Yep...grew up in Daphne....live just a few miles from Timber Creek.

It is only seperating on one side of the hull and just in the back section. I don't take it out in the gulf much...mostly just in the bay and around the close rigs...so I am not super worried about it right this second. I haven't taken on any water. My plan is to pull the rub rail....goop in a ton of epoxy putty....and then screw it back together...maybe next winter.

Any help with posting the pictures?....apparently you have to do it differently now??

How about some help on this also.....there is some cheap plastic trim that goes around the inside ledges.....it is all cracked and busted.....looking for an idea of how to replace it. First thing that came to mind was starboard.....but could be kind of a pain cutting all those strips....and expensive. Anyone replaced this??
