Notched Transom fill in.

Does anybody have a link to pictures of someone filling in their 20" transom notch to 25"? Thanks! I just acquired a 1978 V20 off of ebay and want to put a 25" motor on it.

While you're looking, think about using a jack plate (fixed, manual or automatic).
Just bolt it on and you now have the option of a 20 or 25".

Thanks for the info! I'm going to take the aluminum cap off to take a look at the transom's wood condition. If it's good I'll definatly go with this jack plate because it will save me a ton of work. I've replaced a couple of transoms and don't feel like messing with another one if it can be helped. Thanks again!

Good luck, I've never been very proud of what I've found under the aluminum transom caps.

I also have a 78 and I found I needed to replace the transom when I pulled my cap. I just raised mine from a 20 to a 25. I did mine with Arjay and built a mold around the notch. I am not sure how you would do a partial fill.

Of course after closer inspection it does need the whole transom done. Guess I'll just take the time to do it right. Thanks for the info. I've always used seacast with good results but am looking into the arjay because of lower costs???

I was gonna say to never look under the aluminum transom cap. Nothing good ever comes of that. Sorry, I'm too late.

I'm planning on putting a Suzuki dt225 on the back. I already had the motor from my Grady White repower and just happened across this boat with a Evinrude 115 on it that I needed for my other boat. Anybody else run a DT Suzuki on their boat?
