I have never had to repace an impellar.....anyone have any pics of themselves changing one? Or any suggestions on changing one? I have an Alpha One outdrive.

Its so easy, a dog can do it.

This was when I changed the one on the Merc 150 that came on my V-20, I think all the Merc lowers are very similar.

As I recall, you want to put the thing in forward gear before you take it off, that keeps everything lined up.

And the hardest part was finding the hidden bolts, if it doesnt come off, keep looking for another bolt.

And get some help...specially liftin' it back into place once you've replaced the pump...linin' up the shafts while liftin' can be a beeyutch...:cen:

Here's a trick: Use your knee when you are putting it back in place to help hold it up while you are aligning it and push it into place.

On an ALPHA to do the water pump it is pretty much the same as a MERCURY outboard. You don't have to pull the whole outdrive off, just drop the lower from it. You have to remove the trim zinc to get to the hidden bolt, and make sure it is in forward before dropping it. Also drain the lower before you drop it down as the upper and lower use the same oil and you will have a mess if you don't drain it first. Also make sure and install a complete kit with base, and don't forget the little square o-ring that goes into the lower for the oil passage.
