I finally go tsomething Ive always wanted. I acuired a red tail boa just over 6' long. Ive know the snake for several years as she belonged to a buddy of mine. I even helped deliver her babies once. Anyways she has always been a sweetie and loves people. He had to go to IRAQ so he left it with some relatives to "take care" of her. His wife called me the other day and said they didnt want to anymore and if I would give her a good home I could have her. Im glad I got her becasue she wasnt being taken care of at all. Filthy feces ridden cage, no UV light, heaters, etc. The stuff was all there they just didnt keep it up and working.

Here are a few pics...excuse the mess we are remodeling some stuff in the house. I still have to get her stand cleaned up and inside so its on the table for now.

The wife and girls have fell in love with her...they named her Sallie. :head:

Im also going to setup a branch and rocks and stuff for her to climb on today. :sun:

Ill try and get some more pics this weekend with me for size reference. Im trying to not handle her too much because of the move and all that...they stress easily.

Awesome pet.. My roommate in college had one....got out of the cage and was missing for 3 months ...must have gotten in a wall or something. He was discovered in the bath tub one night while having a party by a girl that was sitting on the throne right next to the tub. Amazingly she was pretty calm about the whole thing.

I'd always thought of getting one but my wife would NEVER go for the live feeding.

Good luck with her.

Thanks guys....I find alot of folks are afraid of em but its all about exposure. I grew up loving snakes and catching them as a kid. My dad taught me what was ok to catch and I read plenty. From then on I had a pet snake most of my childhood. Always loved em...they are fascinating!

Got baby doll out last night....DAMN she is strong...she got wrapped on the bar stool and I couldnt get her off. Had to wait till she was ready. She also got into the garbage can and knocked it over.

Thats something you dont hear everyday...."uhhh yeah, my snake got in the trash " :head:
