I am super-pissed they let Smoltz walk. How could they think that was ok?
Anyone else care?

He's getting washed up anyways. He was great about about 12 years ago. Maddux was always my favorite.

Wifey and I were Big Braves fans for years...she's from GA...then when TW bought 'em and Ted was no longer in the picture, they just became another P & L sheet for TW...lost their soul as far as I'm concerned...not to mention their pitching staff...as for Smoltz, I hope the best for him...sometimes it's just time to move on...

LOL...Funny. A little ironic though that he's playing for Boston now.
In all serious though, Smoltz was anything but washed up. In 2007 he posted a 3.11 ERA. His first start in 2008 he out-dueled Johan Santana in a 2-1 Braves win. If I were GM I think I would have rolled the dice on Smoltz being able to come back after surgery. Especially when you look at the rotation they currently have now.
Having said that, it's been a few days and I'm not quite as upset now as I was when initially heard the news. I hope Smoltzie has a great year w/ the Red Sox and when they come to Turner Field in June, I hope he throws a no-hitter against the Braves.

I totally agree that things started to go south when Ted left the picture. Although I'm glad Hanoi Jane isn't in the stands every night anymore.

I did not like it when the Tigers traded him. Billy Mac
