buy my boat. without the hardtop of course.
i just totally rebuilt the transom, new bellows (all three), new shift cable, new trim cylinders, drive all stripped and painted and she runs like a dog without a leash.
i figure she goes dam near 55 - 57 mph full out but i'll be dammed if'n i wanna go that fast.
she'll cruise easy at about 26 - 29 mph and burn around 9 - 12 gallons per hour.
heres why.

yeah, looks like they modified it.
Looks just like my 84. I'd say it is factory.
I haven't had an issue with the 20" transom so far, and I have been out in as rough as I will ever go out in, 4-5 footers.
But my next V will be full transom.

I would say that transom has been cutdown, according to the 87 catalog 25" was the only transom height option. Maybe it got soft in the top before ???.

No way, its a notched transom piece of crap. The only thing left to do is sink it and fish around it. ::)

Not that it matters, but it has the same fiberglass transom cap as mine, I guess they could have cut it and found a cap off of another V to put on there, but I still think it was factory.
But as CTT would say, who gives a SHIP!!!!

My '88 is a factory 20" or should I say was, since I installed a jack plate and will be closing up the 5".
