This could be a hell of a deal for one of you talented glass guys. Needs more picks of damage.

Maybe I should buy it........will duck tape last through the season or will I need to re-apply it once or twice?

That is a beautiful boat and a great deal. I wonder what happened to it that it is minus a windshield and needs glass work?

Screw the windshield...I'd put a hard top and custom eisenglass around that baby!

Nice boat!

I spoke to the guy selling it. IT WAS A HARDTOP! He is just someone who buys and sells boats looking to make a quick buck and flip it. Said it slid off the trailer onto the starboard side and hardtop fell apart. He went onto say it is not that bad. The main "chime" took a hit. He had a fiberglass guy look at it and got an estimate of $4000 + another $1200 or so for a mail order windshield. This, he believes, would would make it resemble the Block Islander. I may go look at it tomorrow.

I just don't know how to estimate the damage myself, I am afrarid of internal...what do you guys think?

Thanks Skool, I am very familiar with them. One of my best friends has the same boat, a '07 23' Islander with the same power. I am in love with them. They don't ride out the rough water as nice as our V's. but they are very economical.
I am just worried about the amount of danage that could be hidden.

Get a survey done if you are serious. A couple hundred bucks now could save you thousands later. Internal damage could be the death of that thing. But atleast at that price you can almost recoup most of it with the motor alone, IF its not damaged as well.

if it were me i'd buy it repair the sides and build a new hardtop for it. that top looks easy to build.

I remember seeing a boat that look a lot like this at Certified Sales in Mendon MA but I can't say for sure if it was a Steiger Craft. They sell mostly salvaged boats. If this guy got it from a place like that I'd be wary that he ran into bigger problems than he anticipated and is looking to unload it. I'd ask to see his bill of sale.

Yeah that's what I am thinking. Sounds to good to be true, so it probably is.

For me thats a lot of money to throw down for a project boat that fell off it's trailer.

I think it boils down to what you can get for the trailer and the motor. The 225 is worth around 10K and trailer is worth a couple thousand so its not really a lot on the hull. I am not saying I would dive in, but might not be as risky as it sounds....that is if the trailer and motor aren't screwed as well.
