This was from a few weeks ago when this accident happened. Mrs Stinky wrote up a report to let my friends on my local fishin club board know why I wasnt around.

I just done a copy/paste to save some time.

He decided to be SuperDaddy on saturday and played outside with the girls all afternoon... driving them around in the golf cart, jumping on the trampoline, flying his remote controlled airplane... it was a wonderful day. UNTIL...
He decided to set off a few fireworks that a friend of mine had given us. It was a shoebox filled with big ones... the kind that you drop the ball into the tube and it shoots up into the air. Well, he lit one and turned around, and saw that somehow, a spark had ignited the whole shoebox. Since the girls were only 30 feet away, he did the Superman thing... He picked up the box and ran with it while it exploded in his hands, to get it away from me and the girls. My hero!
We spend 9 hours at two different hospitals... started at Providence and ended at the USA Burn Center. The had to scrape all the blisters off and scrub them clean. His thumb was the worst- a second degree burn that was pretty deep. The skin became hard and numb, so the nurses had to stick it with scissors and slice all the way from his palm to the end of his thumb, and cut it all off to the raw, undamaged flesh. Stinky said that they peeled the rawskin off like a banana peel!

Two days and many morphine injections later... we finally made it home.

He has to go back every day this week so they can change his bandages. He is hangin in there like a champ... I'm so proud! Keep him in your prayers... first pleurisy and now this! :!:

That sucks man. I remember turning myself into a human candle, it wasn't fun. I got lucky and only got flash burns and second and a few third degree burns. That white cream was AWESOME stuff for the burns. May you have many dreams with a thong, pregnant women, and feet:beer:.(maybe SKOOLS can help with some visual images for you)

Thanks guys....Im definitely past the bulk of healing and infectiuos stages. Just been resting up and takin it easy.....hand is looking great compared to up there. The doc says no scaring will occur at all!

This is the worst hand....its amazing to me how fast the human body can bounce back. The Big Man upstairs sure knew what he was doing when he put it all together.

The other hand is hardly noticable already...been unbandaged a week now.

Its really crazy to me because the full length of my thumb had a 1/4" deep gap running the full length of it....curazy. Its now built completely back up.

No there was no beer, or thongs. LOL

CTT, there is no such thing as "dont try this at home" around here. We usually have a few dozen friends out from church every 4th and New Years....I couldnt begin to tell you how many 1000's of dollars worth of fire works we have shot out here. Just one of them things from living away from the burbs with a few acres. Its a normal thing. I have shot fireworks all my life with no problems. I have even had roman candle wars with buddys growing up and shooting at each other from only feet away. It figures I would never get hurt until Im just shooting a few for the girls....life is funny that way. ((shrug))

The wife unit and I have discussed it and although it happened so fast its hard to remember we think the artilary shell I lit malfunctioned and exploded before going airborne therefore setting the whole box on fire a few feet away. Either way It was a lesson learned and Im thankful it wasnt worse and the girls were ok.

The last few years I have lost interest in them and personally havent shot many at all......I usually just watch as others do.....thats surely my plan for the next holiday!
