As mentioned in a past post, I want it all ;D and my goal for this year is to get a "nice fish" in every species in my area. Today was sea Bass. We got allot of 12 - 18 inch fish (decent sea bass) but the one I was looking for came on the last drift, 23 inches and just about 6lbs. ( defently one of the most "pretty fish" in my area)

I'm pretty siked with ths fish ;) Not a monste compared to a striper, but a good sea bass.
We kept that fish and a few others for the table, including a nice bycatch of a Fluke and scup ( Ijust got done eating the scup ;) )

That is a great seabas! I have caught an fewn this year and all small, But I have not Targeted them either.

Fluke will be closed on the 15th for the season, after that is the time to start hunting for new spots to fish next year and turn to seabass, scup, bass, blues, and the fall Tog!!

That's one nice sea bass. I also agree that they are one pretty fish, with that black/blue color.

Man that is a nice black seabass. The biggest I ever caught was 5 pounds.

I think black seabass is one of the best eatting fish in the sea.

Well, if I didn't already know a lil about your fishing I'd say you've got your work cut out for you....but judging by your resume I think you can handle it!

Nice work on the pics by the way. 8)

Its a Cunner or Bergal. You know those fish that keep steeling your bait with the big teeth ;D
I was sort of joking but there is a new pending IGFA record @ 3.5lbs So some times when I'm out on the reefs and striper fishing is slow I actually try for them ::) Supposedly good eating to ;D

Sean,

choggies are in the totaug family and are indeed great table fare. I have never eaten them because the ones I've caught were way too small to even bother to fillet. But the oldtimer salty I know says they are great to eat and he also said they are great in fish chowdah.
