DMoore that is a thing of beauty, very nice. One theing I would suggest is once those rollers on the trailer start getting a little run out change them over to the clear ones right away to keep that cherry hull unmarred

Thanks for the compliments guys.....I sold my "old" V-20 to a diver in Virginia beach last March, he didn't even care to put it in the water...I had to beg him to put the ears on and run it in the driveway....She did bring what I was asking,$10,500...I kind of started missing it around last fall when I actually had time to use it. That's when Reel found this beaut in is backyard. A few phone calls with the original owner and I was headin down to Spartenburg S.C. The boat, motor & trailer had never been in saltwater until I launched it at my ramp this past January. I traded the aluminum float-on trailer in on a new E Z Loader during the Virginia Beach Boat Show in Feb. Gotta have a roller around here............

Thanks Phester, whats real nice about this boat is that it came with the original full enclosure of which was used maybe once or twice the guy told me. And it looks like it too...the clear vinyl is crystal clear & not one blemish or stain on the canvas. Nothing like buying from an individual who takes pride in what he or she has...:)

Dave,

Short of me gettin' that boat, it's the best feelin' to see it in the hands of a guy who' s doin' the most for it...it looked good here in Spartanburg last time I saw it, but WOW!!...you REELY polished 'er up nice...and added some nice touches along the way...hmm...looks like anchor roller, sound system, wash-down, on-board battery charger...and LOTS of elbow grease!!...is that a new VHF radio and antenna"...whad I miss?...seats?...

Good show!!...

Hey...in case yer wonderin'?...you can't post too many pictures of that baby...keep 'em comin'!!...

dmoore
09-14-2008, 01:37 PM
Sure....I'll get you sum more pics in a few days.......Suffolk huh? I guess your about 2 hours away & south from me here on the Shore. Relocating the anchor has many pluses....the one I like is not puting gouges and scrapes underneath that bow flare when anchoring or de-anchoring. And its always ready to drop, just bring up the anchor line secure it to the shackle and let her go. This arrangement worked very well with my old 20 so it was a no brainer. I leave the anchor chain on the deck all the time, just bring up the anchor line from the locker down below. I was going to install a small hawse pipe like on the 20 but I decided against it. The 21's have a little room up there on the bow to work with. But I just run the anchor line under the windshield in the sliding hatch channel. The center windshield will close over it no problem. I also installed a s/s gripe to hold the anchor in against the roller. Dave

09-14-2008, 01:49 PM
wow was that hold on a sec, was SHE ever used, shes beutiful, and i love my 1978 but yours is like brand new[I would still never sell mine shes beutiful also] dont put bottom paint on her what ever you do. Shes a rare find also i would like to know more about the anchor roller too, do to have backing plates underneat? what kind, is it sturdy, sure looks like it is any pics and info about the anchor would be greatly appriciated WHAT A BOAT you lucky bastard,

dmoore
09-14-2008, 06:22 PM
Thanks for the great compliments guys.....Yeah Reel I added a few things like you mentioned, I put a raw water strainer in line on the seacock down below, replaced all the plastic thru hulls with bronze, new vhf s/s mount & antenna, new tach, volt meter, rectifier regulator (only because tach was sparadic), rear bolsters, new (nylon)cockpit drains, relocated bow lights for anchor mount, yeah new seats(gotta be comfy), oh yeah and a new trailer! :) not because the original 96 one was bad, ohhh noooo, a roller trailer is more suited here on the shore due to our shallow ramps. The 150 starts right up every time and pushes her effortlessly......Once and a while you come across a super deal that you feel good about, this was one of those deals :) Dave

dmoore
09-14-2008, 07:35 PM
I'm always hesitant about drilling a hole in a boat in this condition but the benefit far outweighs in concern over the holes. I used 1/2" aluminum backing plates underneath for support, 2 - 3/8" s/s bolts w/locks & flats. The anchor bracket is right out of the Port Supply (West Marines commercial name)catalog. Its a beautiful piece, 316 s/s polished. I'll look up the part number for you guys this week and post it here. You make a lil more work for yourself because now you have to relocate the bow lights individually, really a simple wiring problem. I guess the next best thing would be a windlass but personally I don't think a 20-21 boat really needs one unless of coarse you want to impress your fishin buddies.....which sometimes is shear enjoyment anyway :) D

dmoore
09-14-2008, 08:59 PM
Here is the anchor chain gripe I installed.......It is manufactured by Lemar as is the bow roller bracket. Tried to find a pic on the pc but couldn't...I'll snap one of mine on the boat....D

The roller bracket is West Marine #9397191 Lemar#66840066..

There are a few different brackets, this part # is the 316 S/S polished piece, a very nice addition to any ones bow....
